Very nice and useful
Very nice and useful
Thanks for your work!
This app very easy is very very efficient and much convenient.
The type of program Ive been looking for. Something that would unmount AND mount all drives quickly accesible right from the menubar. Great to see it works with Snow Leopard. As a suggestion Id like to see an "Eject All" or "Mount all" option right in the drop down menu instead of having it nested in a contextual menu.
Guys, why dont you please add some Shortcuts? It would make our life MUCH easier. Please, please, please...
Its fine, but not as smart as I thought. It seems to use lsof to detect in-use files, but doesnt prevent second lsof running for the same instance, which consumes a lot of resources. Anyway, as a dev, I can use lsof to help myself.
Title says it all. Everything seems to work as stated. However, the lack of customizable shortcuts makes the built-in hotkeys unusable (i.e. "Unmount all removable" is assigned to command+E, which is already used in many applications including Chrome). EDIT: Recent updates remove the shortcuts altogether. Also, support for "partitioned" external hard drives used as Time Machines is incomplete. Ejecting a Time Machine causes it to eject in the finder. Unplugging the hard drive after using Mountain to eject, however, causes an improper ejection dialog to pop up.
For me it is mostly a toy. It would be nice if it controlled what drives mount at startup. That would make this program truly useful.
A much easier way of managing mounted images from a single app. So far so good!!
Since the latest update this has reversed one of the improvements that they made that had made it much better. Putting the Unmount All Removeable on the top level of their menu had been a major improvement to the UI from my point of view, but theyve reversed themselves on that feature, so Ive lowered my rating.
Cmd E and Cmd M are already used in many other applications. Otherwise, this app is very good.
I have so many drives (12) attached to my iMac, each being mounted and unmounted lots of times in the course of a day - even an hour, sometimes - that this little program keeps my 70 year old brain from scrambling with the activity. Very glad I got it!
Not bad, works great. A bit cumbersome though. Thing that bothers me is the window that appears on initial launch executes all the time.
…and update this app to the unsandboxed version for free on the developers site. This software has replaced two other programs Ive used with similar functionality and it tops them all. The ability to show and quickly remount recently mounted drives puts it over the top. My only suggestion would be that it needs some type of indicator to show that its working while it tries to unmount your drives. Other than that, its outstanding.
I have 14 volumes attached to my Mac Mini, several for projects, a dedicated boot volume backup, a dedicated iTunes volume, plus backup volumes for all these. Most of the time I dont need them all open at once and Mountain is a great app for unmounting those that wont be in use for the day, or mounting those that I need. I know, theres always the Devices tab in the finder Sidebar, but I rarely have a Finder window open, but this puppy resides in the Menu Bar and is instaantly accessible. It works well for me and thats what counts. As always, each users experiences will vary.
This is a great program, that does exactly what it says it does, for a very reasonable price. Regarding the negative comments in some of the reviews: The developer has fixed virtually all the issues raised in these reviews. Its just that Apple wont let him release the version that fixes all the issues in the App Store, because the updated version violates the App Stores "Sandboxing" rules. I know Apple means well, but this is a perfect example of where sandboxing is a hinderance. Fortunately, its very easy to get the updated version. Heres what you do: 1) Purchase this app from the App Store, and run it once. 2) The first screen that pops up explains how to get the improved version, FOR FREE. 3) Just follow the instructions. Its simple. You just click a link to download the updated version, unzip it, and drag it to Applications. I highly recommend reading the developers FAQ also (menu Support->Help), as it answers some very relevant questions. Theres a couple of preferences you may want to change right at the start, so read it. A few of the "issues" resolved by the updated version: 1) You can disable "News" at startup. 2) You can unmount internal drives. 3) If your external drive doesnt spin down after you unmount it, theres a setting to fix that (read the FAQ). In short, if you need what this app does, then you need this app. Period. PS: I dont write many reviews. I wrote this one because this app is the perfect combination of helpfulness and price, and the negative reviews ticked me off because the developer obviously cares enough to fix the issues, so I thought someone should point this out.
This app is great… I love the fact they they decided to include the option to have notificatios pop up when a disk/volume is either mounted, unmounted, recognized, or ejected. Im such a freak about having my devices properly ejected, and this app makes it simple with giving you the option to do so from the toolbar. $1.99 may have been a tad-bit much, but I cant really complain.
very very useful utility for people who use their laptop docked most of the time, but occasionally need to eject everything and go. I set up a global shortcut key with the app to unmount all my external drives.
I never thought this would be THAT useful. I am glad I got it and now I suggesting it to everyone I know. However it cannot work within sandbox, so the developers suggest to install the latest version from thier site instead of AppStore. Apple should allow trusted developers to step out of the box if the functionality requires that.
Does what it says and is not intrusive. Be sure to upgrade with the version from the developers site.
